Someone Else's Child - Helen Klein Ross (2016)

This is a tale of two women: Lucy, a divorcee desperate for a child, and Marilyn, a new mother who is trying to balance work and motherhood. One day, Marilyn leaves her daughter alone for a minute to take a call while Lucy stumbles upon a beautiful baby left alone in a shopping cart and their lives change forever. Lucy takes the baby with her and raises her, leaving Marilyn heartbroken looking for her own daughter for years. It's a suspenseful read about motherhood and pushing the limits. I liked how the author narrates from all the characters' point of views so I knew all their thoughts - I knew what pushed a woman to kidnap a child and a mother to leave her daughter alone. A brilliant, captivating story of a mother's worst nightmare. (NP)
