Mara has received an inheritance from her late dad and uses it as a down payment on a flat in London.
Her boyfriend of five years, Tom, is too depressed for work; her library boss Derek is far too over-familiar; and her new neighbours are loud newlyweds and a pernickety older man.
Told with very short chapters, this story about falling out of love and finding a place to call home was the winner of the 2023 Comedy Women in Print Award in the unpublished category. It tackles a number of heavier topics, with the right blend of heartfelt insight and humour.
