Robotics engineer Kelly needs a date for her sister’s wedding. While her mother has never shown much interest in her impressive career in artificial intelligence, her disappointment in her daughter’s sorry love life is very apparent. Working on a project to create a realistic robotic helper, Kelly builds her ideal man, Ethan, to be her partner for the wedding. He’s gorgeous, intelligent, sensitive … how will she ever bear to dismantle him again?
This story had me enthralled in parts, bored in others. Kelly’s desire to be noticed by her family made for a good story and explained many of her actions but the relationship dynamic between Kelly and her robotic boyfriend felt wooden. Funny, clever concept but needed a bit more tweaking in the lab.
