Aspiring actress Kate was in her early 20s and working at a pub when she had an all-consuming affair with an older married guy called Callum. Nearly 20 years later, Kate has made her name as an actress and is married to art gallery owner Matt and has a young daughter. She bumps into Scottish teacher Callum again when she returns as a VIP guest to her former primary school. Despite Callum barely having been forgiven by his wife Belinda for his earlier betrayal, the spark is still there and their affair resumes. Is it a second chance at love or another big mistake?
Despite not breaking any new ground with the plot, this debut novel from a TV actress and scriptwriter is still an adept story that makes you take sides and become invested in how things will turn out for the main characters. A cautionary tale about thinking the grass will be greener in a different life.
