When a psychic at her sister’s wedding tells Lucy to stop ignoring the signs of fate, the schoolteacher leaves behind her big, overly involved family and takes off on her first international trip. Her uber-organised sister had booked an extra honeymoon in London just in case so while she is off enjoying a Mediterranean break with her new husband, Lucy secretly sneaks off to take up the unwanted booking in England.
Only problem is it’s a newlyweds-only hotel, and Lucy doesn’t have a groom. Thankfully a former schoolfriend steps into the breach, particularly because the hotel owner’s son, Oliver, seems particularly suspicious of her.
This is a delightful rom-com and a very promising debut. Lucy has all the makings of a loveable heroine as she steps out of her comfort zone to create her own adventure. The group email missives from the family were a lovely touch.
