Home at Last (2019)

Anna Kelly left Broken Hill behind as a teenager after her life changed irretrievably. Now she’s back, older and wiser and a pilot for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Nick Harrison is a flight nurse who went to high school with Anna. Like Anna, he left Broken Hill behind and moved on with his life. They are both back for different reasons. Attraction is immediate but with both holding secrets close to their chest, can they make a relationship work?
Appleyard depicts life in a small town well and makes the heat of the outback sizzle off the page. Anna and Nick are great characters and the author complements them with a cast of colourful extras. This is a delightful read and lovers of rural romance will enjoy it. (LF) 7/10
