Mackenzie Corbett is a successful associate at a top Manhattan law firm.
She is collecting a huge paycheck and is on track to making partner. Her
charming boyfriend, Chase, another associate at her firm, looks like he
walked off the street of Martha's Vineyard. Mckenzie's life appears
perfect. In reality, the dark circles under her eyes represent the
caffeine-infused days and nights that she has become accustomed to. Her
life is based on barely surviving the next big case and dodging the
insults of her psychotic bosses. Mackenzie goes into overdrive when she
is given a chance to close the biggest deal in the firm's history.
Everything she has dreamed of is suddenly within her reach. When
Mackenzie is faced with a personal betrayal and a Securities and Exchange
Commission investigation, she begins to question her future. As a lawyer I can appreciate the reality of what some must assume is a fictionalised account of the day in the life of a young attorney. Fans of The Devil Wears Prada will see the parallels of these two novels. (AO)
