In this debut novel by the Real Housewives of Miami's Lea Black, Miami socialite Leigh Anatole White has hosted an annual charity ball for years but has now decided to bow out. But when she attends another charity ball and can't believe how awful the setup is, she decides to do one more year - and she wants to make sure that this is her biggest charity ball ever. She calls on her friends and her faithful assistant to help with this extravaganza. Dixie Johnson is married to a well-known therapist to the stars. She has been having issues with her marriage and has been having a fling with her driver, Danny. Her huge Texas personality is almost too much for some people and of course her love of alcohol has had most of Miami's society talking. Known as the queen of gossip, in her spare time she listens to her husband Howard's confidential tapes of his clients. The amount of gossip she gains from these tapes are enough to shut down all of Miami's heavy hitters. Katie Parker knows her husband is planning on leaving her. They never talk to one other and she is always out at parties hooking up with as many playboys as she can. Knowing he will execute the prenup that she hadn't wanted to sign in the first place, Katie has no problem playing dirty to keep her in Louboutins and diamonds. Miami is no stranger to scandal, and with this group it is a guarantee. Who will fall and who will stand above the fray? This is a good debut, I enjoyed all the characters and would have liked to know more about them by the end of the book. Even though it is a long book, it was still a fast easy read. (CG)
