LAURA DOCKRILL

I Love You, I Love You, I Love You (2024)

The story opens with Ella, poet and a bit of a romantic, catching the bouquet at a friend’s wedding, before hearing a song from her friend’s band.
It then backtracks to 2000, when she is a teenager living in Brixton and pining to have a boyfriend. She meets Lowe, and immediately fancies him. But they instead settle into a close friendship where he shares mix tapes with her.
The story then alternates between now and Ella’s life with current boyfriend Jackson and her past with her friends and Lowe. It’s a beautifully written coming-of-age story which will appeal to those looking for some early 2000s nostalgia. But I just didn’t connect with either character and lost interest in where they end up. 6/10
