Prue’s turning 30 this year and her life isn’t exactly as she’d imagined after dropping out of vet school and a broken engagement behind her. She now works for a call helpline and lives with her brother, Ben, a successful erotic romance novelist.
Her best friend, Delia, gets her to set some goals ahead of the milestone birthday - to change her job, move out of her brother’s house, and not be alone.
Prue is a relatable, self-deprecating character who is far from having her life or relationships in order, the apparent opposite of her peers from the snippets of social media posts that start each chapter. It was billed as an anti-romcom but I didn’t think that label belongs on this book.
