Esme sets Tom a task: to revisit a significant moment of their 10-year relationship, to represent each hour of the day. Tom begins with the 2-3am timeslot when he meets Esme at a party and continues to tell the story of their relationship – the good, the bad and the memorable. It soon becomes apparent that Tom is keeping a big secret from his girlfriend.
This is a clever premise and the smoothly written narrative gives a raw and realistic glimpse into the ups and downs of a relationship. However, I did start to lose interest halfway through, which detracted from the overall experience.
