It’s Callie’s wedding day but her fiance Liam sadly never arrives to exchange vows. The story then jumps to a year later, with Callie still living in her rented cottage in Cornwall with the beautiful garden.
At the beach, she meets property developer Nathan, who after a health scare has moved into a cottage very similar to the one she and Liam had planned to buy, and he asks for Callie’s help with the overgrown garden.
This was a heartfelt and life-affirming story about two people moving on from hard times, with a slow-burn romance. The setting and nature played a big part, and the descriptions made it easy to imagine the flowers wafting about in the breeze. However, a development towards the end took me out of being immersed in the story and made me remember it was contrived fiction after all.
