NEW ADULT

Collide - Gail McHugh

Emily Cooper has a lot to thank boyfriend Dillon Parker for, he's the one who got her through her mother's death and helped her move to New York. But the reality of being with him in New York isn't what she'd been expecting. When she meets Gavin Blake, he stirs something in her that Dillon doesn't. And despite being friends with Dillon, Gavin can't help but pursue Emily. For Emily, however, there's her commitment to Dillon, although cracks are beginning to show in Dillon's perfect facade. The heat and chemistry in this book is electric and Gavin Blake is sure to more than please readers, whilst the fact of Emily and Gavin being kept apart is truly heart-wrenching. Emily's commitment to Dillon, however, sometimes gets a bit testy and after everything she says and does about staying with him, when she does get together with Gavin it all happens in the blink of an eye. But it's worth it for the electricity between her and Gavin. The ending, however, is somewhat frustrating with a situation that could easily be resolved and maddening behaviour from both Gavin and Emily. With a will-they-won't-they cliffhanger, it's pretty clear that there's lots more drama, passion and angst to come in the sequel Pulse. (JC)
