Alison meets Oliver at an airport when she vomits on him. They both end up on the same flight to Melbourne - he is returning from Cyprus for his grandmother's funeral, she's returning from China after breaking up with her poet boyfriend Ed. Alison ends up following Oliver to the Solomon Islands, where he is planning to write his next novel. He wasn't happy with his first book because his publisher made him write a happy ending. So he is adamant he won't be doing the same for this one. But as he pens his historical novel, the characters and events start to mirror what is happening to them in real life. So how can Oliver not write a happy ending?
This is a lovely read with quirky characters and plenty of atmosphere from the South Pacific island where the author spent time working in community development. It's a refreshing read for people looking for a different kind of love story.
