Christmas Carol - Michele Gorman (2013)
Carol is attending her sister Marley's wedding in rural Scotland and ends up having to spend time with three of her ex-boyfriends who have also been invited to her sister's special day. This book was so funny, I absolutely loved Carol's inner dialogue and her quirky family. Her grandmother was a riot and Marley was one of my favourites with her sentimentality. I could understand Carol's self searching, doubt and sadness - based on her past experiences I could totally see how Carol ended up with her mindset. Michele Gorman brought Carol to life and I would recommend this to anyone who could do with some laughs. (KARM)
Michele Gorman's novella Christmas Carol is about a woman who isn't into the festive spirit at all. The summary says: "One winter wedding, two happy couples, three ex-boyfriends. And a very uncomfortable weekend. Carol hates Christmas. Being recently dumped, she's not crazy about weddings either. So her sister Marley's nuptials, over the Christmas weekend, are making her positively Scrooge-like. When she arrives for the weekend at the stately home in rural Scotland to find her three ex-boyfriends in attendance, Carol has no choice but to face her ghosts to discover what really happened in those relationships, learning a lot about herself in the process. As the snow falls outside and the fire crackles in the hearth, might one of the wedding guests become the harbinger of Christmases to come?"
