Christmas at Harrington's - Melody Carlson (2010)
For Lena Markham, this Christmas sees her being released from prison for a crime that her ex-husband committed and framed her for. With no family ties, she sets out to start anew in New Haven. Her parole officer has found her a place to live - Millers boarding house - and set her up in a job at Harrington's department store. But when Lena turns up at Harrington's, she discovers they are not looking to hire anybody. However, when their Santa fails to turn out as they hoped, Lena is asked to play the role of Mrs Santa. Just as Lena thinks her luck is changing, one of the customers recognises her and lets the town know about her past. Is it the season of redemption for Lena? (PP)
