The Dahl family has been devastated by the tragic death of two-year-old Riley. Jenny, the mother, and Ella, the teenage daughter, both hold themselves responsible for his death. Jenny desperately wants another baby and is trying IVF unsuccessfully. Ella is a school cheerleader and spends her time studying and trying to please her parents. Ethan, the father and husband, is a pilot. He spends most of his flying time trying desperately to find ways of bringing together what's left of their family. An uncharacteristic decision by Ella makes them all realise what is at stake. This fabulous debut novel is written in the style of Jodi Picoult. The author concentrates on the three main characters which allows the reader to get to know them all well. (BS)
