Not Bad People (2019)

Three friends from a small Australian town float lanterns into the sky on New Year’s Eve as part of a letting-go ritual. They discover the next day that a light plane crashed nearby, injuring the two occupants. Aimee, who runs a vineyard with her husband, is wrought with guilt thinking they are responsible. But local success story Melinda doesn’t want her saying anything to investigators because she has a major business relaunch happening. And single mum Lou has her own issues to worry about, especially her teen daughter Tansy.
This is an impressive and compelling debut about guilt, secrets and shame. It makes for a great book club read, with an intriguing premise, a relatable, captivating cast, and solid storytelling. 8/10
