Freelance writer Hannah’s world is shattered when she receives a text message from her younger sister that their mum has fallen over during a jog. And tragically she never wakes up again.
The story details Hannah’s journey through grief as she learns to live without her mum, from realising Christmas dinner is now her responsibility, seeing a grief counsellor, and worrying that their dad may have already started dating again.
Hannah is a totally relatable character who goes through an array of emotions in the first year after the loss of a loved one. It’s a beautifully written, emotional debut with plenty of humour despite the subject matter.
