One day, Ellen runs into Sheila, an old friend of Fintan's who mentions Fintan's mother Jo. However this is news to Ellen as she was under the impression that her husband was an orphan. On a spur of the moment, Ellen decides to go to Ireland and meet her mother-in-law. But she soon discovers that she really knew nothing about her husband's past.
