The Note - Zoe Folbigg (2017)

Maya is besotted with a commuter on her train to London. But when she finally works up the courage to pass Train Man a note asking him out, it doesn’t seem like she’ll get her happily-ever-after at all.
Based on the author’s real life, this story is one of instant attraction, missed opportunities and taking chances. I must admit I enjoyed the scenes at Maya’s fashion website workplace much more than the potential love story. It was also difficult to keep track of the narrative’s shifts in time – the dates were given at the start of each chapter but without flicking back through the pages, I was never quite sure how one date related to another. Overall though, it was a sweet and enjoyable read. 7/10

Inspired by her own life, magazine journalist Zoe Folbigg's debut novel The Note is about a woman who falls for a stranger on a train. The summary says: "The note changed everything...
One very ordinary day, Maya Flowers sees a new commuter board her train to London, and suddenly the day isn't ordinary at all. Maya knows immediately and irrevocably, that he is The One.
But the beautiful man on the train always has his head in a book and never seems to notice Maya sitting just down the carriage from him every day. Eventually, though, inspired by a very wise friend, Maya plucks up the courage to give the stranger a note asking him out for a drink. After all, what's the worst that can happen?
And so begins a story of sliding doors, missed opportunities and finding happiness where you least expect it." The Note is out in October 2017. For more on how Zoe met her husband on the train, read her Daily Mail article.
