British comedian Jenny Eclair's latest novel Life, Death and Vanilla Slices is billed as a black comedy about the secrets and lies we teach each other and ourselves. The summary says: "Estranged sisters Anne and Jess were never close as children and have drifted further apart over the years - living separate lives in different cities. But when their mother Jean is seriously injured in a road accident, they find themselves flung together again. It's not going to be pretty... Meanwhile Jean - trapped in a coma - is dreaming of her life and all the family secrets she never shared. Secrets even her daughters don't know about - but really should..." Life, Death and Vanilla Slices is out in July.
