Finding Home (2016)

Amy Wood works as an English teacher after obtaining her PhD and she is about to buy the perfect house with her boyfriend. But not everything is perfect and in one day she loses boyfriend, house and job. Trying to get her life together again, she moves back with her parents and finds a job working in real estate. She completely falls in love with her first sell, a beautiful but crumbling mansion, Rosemont Hall, but she needs to save it from being sold to a corporation and turned into a golf club. I found Amy a really interesting character who always finds a way to get back on her feet after her world crumbles. There are hilarious and comic situations, like when her parents walk in on her making out with a guy she barely knows and they all end up playing dirty Scrabble. I was caught up in the mysteries surrounding Rosemont Hall and its former residents. It’s a really entertaining novel and I enjoyed all the references to classic novels, such as Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice. (NP) 7/10
