Could It Be You (2015)

Rachel Kane is recently separated from her husband, and is back living with her parent and struggling to make ends meet by making and selling soap on a market stall. When she travels to the south of France for the wedding of two of her best friends, she bumps into Tom, a shop owner who is interested in stocking her soaps. Coincidentally, he is also attending the wedding, and soon Rachel wonders if things are beginning to look up not just in her professional life, but also in her personal life. I really enjoyed this book. Rachel is a very likeable, relatable character, and the dynamic between her and her circle of friends is fun and feisty, it makes you want to be a part of their group. There were a few plot twists that kept the story interesting, and I was pleased that things didn't go exactly the way I thought they would with regard to Rachel's love life. It was perhaps a little short, but overall a very promising and enjoyable debut. (LO)
